Nathan Chappell

President

Nathan serves as President of Futurus Group, an affiliate of Gobel Enterprises. In his prior role as Senior Vice President of Philanthropy at City of Hope, Nathan oversaw operational and fundraising activities that helped generate more than $165 million per year. Prior to joining City of Hope, Nathan served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advancement Operations and Campaign at UC San Diego and also as a fundraising consultant with CCS Fundraising. As a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Nathan is regarded as a thought leader in the nonprofit industry and presents frequently on the topic of precision philanthropy. In 2018, Nathan presented the first TEDx on the topic of artificial intelligence and the future of generosity. Nathan holds a Master in Nonprofit Administration from University of Notre Dame, a Master in Business Administration from University of Redlands, a certificate in International Economics from University of Cambridge and a certificate in Artificial Intelligence from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Dave Chrystal

Director of Business Development

Dave joins the growing team at Futurus Group as a Director of Business Development. Prior to this role, he spent over a decade leading development teams at the Rainforest Alliance, an international conservation nonprofit. At the Rainforest Alliance, he was involved in several philanthropic functions including membership, operations, cause related marketing, board relations, and major giving. With his broad background in development and his deep understanding of the complexities and challenges of the development process, Dave is excited to be helping prospective clients identify new strategies to raise philanthropic dollars at nonprofit healthcare institutions. Dave received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Bucknell University, and his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Alek Drexler

Chief Information Security Officer

Alek Drexler is a Chief Information Security Officer with ten years of combined experience establishing award-winning information security programs. He has a successful record of putting into practice all aspect of cybersecurity, including security governance, regulatory compliance, privacy, risk assessment, and risk management.

Chad Gobel

CEO & Founder

Chad is a twenty-year veteran of institutional advancement programs, having played leading roles in billion-dollar medical center campaigns at the Cleveland Clinic and the University of Rochester Medical Center.
In 2011, Chad founded Gobel Group with one employee and one client. Today, Gobel Group has grown to 30 employees and actively works with more than 315 clients around the world. Gobel Group has become the leading philanthropy consulting firm working exclusively in healthcare and the experts in building a grateful patient and family philanthropy program with engaged clinicians. In 2019, Chad launched Futurus Group, a technology company headquartered in Irvine, CA, to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to help healthcare organizations increase philanthropic support. Futurus’ first product, G2G, or short for “Gratitude to Give,” has proven to be more than four times as effective as traditional predict models on giving.
Chad received his MBA from the Ohio State University and his undergraduate degree from Towson University. He has served in leadership roles as Associate Chairman of Development at the Cleveland Clinic, Chief Development Officer at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Assistant Dean for External Affairs at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and Executive Director of Development at the University of Maryland School of Public Affairs. He’s a frequent speaker at national conferences, served on the faculty of the AHP Madison Institute for ten years, and has published the widely-circulated book, “How to Become a Top Producer in Healthcare Philanthropy.” With his family, Chad is an active advocate and donor for children and animal causes in his community. He serves as the Chair of the Development Committee, a member of the Executive Committee, and a Board Member for the Brandywine Valley SPCA and is an active donor and volunteer for the YMCA.

Lauren Kline

Sr. Director, Partnerships

Lauren joined the company in June 2011 and has held roles of increasing responsibility in her tenure at Gobel Group and Futurus Group. In her current role, Lauren works to cultivate and maintain relationships with industry strategic partners to drive continued growth of our brand and business. Lauren also works closely with the CEO to champion and manage development of new innovative products and technology solutions.

Lauren has a strong background in project management, research and administrative roles. She brings a strategic, focused and detail-oriented passion to her work. Previous roles within the company have included four years as Senior Director of Business Development and Marketing, Director of Administration, and Philanthropy Analyst. Prior to meeting Chad and launching a career in healthcare philanthropy, Lauren was serving as a paralegal in upstate New York while considering a career in Law. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Public Administration from the State University of New York.

Kaitlin Kunkel

Operations Manager

Kaitlin currently works as the Operations Manager. She came to the company from Penn Medicine after being employed as the Managed Care Coordinator. Kaitlin worked closely with physicians, providers and other healthcare professionals by navigating patients throughout the health system in efforts to improve their overall patient experience with Penn Medicine. Prior to working as the Care Coordinator, Kaitlin worked as a Clinical Service Associate for Penn Family Medicine, Penn Neurology and Penn Cardiac Care. Kaitlin’s interest in Healthcare Philanthropy began in 2011 after being awarded as a “Healthcare Hero” by a grateful patient through Penn Medicine’s Development and Alumni Relations Department. Kaitlin has annually organized teams in donating and walking for the American Heart Association in Philadelphia, PA. Kaitlin holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare Administration from Immaculata University. She brings a profound understanding surrounding the importance of patient engagement necessary for a successful grateful patient program.

Marissa Lavigna

Marketing Manager

Marissa comes to the organization with over 15 years of marketing and project management experience. She previously worked for Cengage Learning, one of the country’s leading educational publishers, as well as for a digital marketing firm and a marketing consulting company. Marissa will be working closely with the Marketing and Business Development teams to strengthen awareness for the services offered by the Gobel Group and Futurus Group and also to ensure that each of our consultants have all the tools they need when meeting with clients. She has a proven track record of successful implementation in all aspects of marketing initiatives. Marissa strives to exceed expectations for her clients while ensuring that plans are executed efficiently, in a timely manner, and with great attention to detail.

Sharon Rose Hee

Director of Finance

Sharon is a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years experience in providing professional services across a broad range of financial areas including compliance, internal controls, business processes, and acting in business advisory roles. She has been involved with multiple not-for-profit organizations as a board member, a volunteer, a part of the audit team, an internal business manager, and the provider of policies, procedures, and internal control reviews.
Sharon has a B.A. from Thomas Edison State University.
At Gobel Group she is responsible for the delivery of financial services including accounting, treasury, reporting, and budgeting, all in accordance with legislative requirements and organizational policies and strategies.

Scott Rosenkrans

Principal Consultant & Director of Data Analytics

Scott’s professional career has solely been focused on fundraising, specializing in data analytics and healthcare capital campaigns. His first position was at the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore during their $150 million capital campaign. While at the Archdiocese, he oversaw various components of capital campaign management including prospect research, campaign consulting, financial reporting, volunteer recruitment, data analytics, campaign projections and pledge redemption tracking, among other projects. Prior to joining Futurus Group, he was Senior Executive Counsel and Director of Data Analytics with a consulting firm primarily focusing on healthcare philanthropy. During this time, while managing over $50 million in capital campaigns, Scott implemented the use of data analytics to maximize the fundraising performance of his clients’ efforts. The results of this work have been used in feasibility studies, capital campaigns, and major gift programs. Scott received his undergraduate degree from Elon University in North Carolina and his Master’s Degree in Psychology at Loyola University Maryland.

Amanda Rozzana

Director of Operations

Amanda serves as the Director of Operations for Futurus Group. Before joining the team, she served as the Administrative Director for the Office of Philanthropy at City of Hope where she managed a wide range of administrative matters concerning the 160-member fundraising team. Prior to her time at City of Hope, Amanda served in a variety of fundraising roles including several years as a frontline fundraiser, as well as a grant writer for an international nonprofit. Her experience as a frontline fundraiser has allowed Amanda to understand the unique needs and challenges of our clients. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from California State University Fullerton and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Biola University.

Andrew Waterman

Chief Data Scientist

Andrew is a Silicon Valley veteran with 15 years experience using machine learning and data science to help companies innovate, including at Google, Check (acquired by Intuit), and over a dozen startups. Andrew has MS & BS degrees from Stanford in Symbolic Systems focusing on AI.
